Around 10:30pm on February 24, 1993 I was awakened by a sharp pain in my abdomen. I went and drank some water and then tried to lay back down. Just as I was falling back to sleep, I felt another sharp pain. I tried to go back to sleep and couldn't. Finally, just after 1am, these pains were on such a regular basis, I thought "Oh heck, I must be in labor!" I then phoned the obstetrician's office, and left a message with the answering service. A short while later, they returned my call and told me to get to the hospital as soon as possible. I called my Mom so that she could come stay with Krissie who was just 3 at the time. Mom soon arrived, and Mike then drove me to the hospital. I was admitted immediately and though I felt a few contractions, I was given anesthesia soon and the pain soon subsided. Kaylan joined us at 8:40am on February 25, 1993.
My Mom brought Krissie around lunch time to meet her baby sister. I remember Mom pushing Krissie's Umbrella stroller into the hospital room. Krissie was holding a McDonald's bag with food for her Daddy. She had the biggest smile on her face and was waving her cute little 'princess wave'.
